Westerns
The western is another genera that has been around since the beginning of film. but it is no longer as popular as it once was. It along with be apart of film history its also a part of American history the genera has told many stories of the American west. For example the movie Tombstone (1993) is loosely based 0n the exploits of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. Also theirs the Good the Bad and the Ugly (1966) which takes place during the Sibley campaign during the civil war. Their have also been westerns that have made strong political statements. Like High Noon (1952) staring Gary Cooper a film in which a marshell must face a gang of thugs by himself. This was seen as comment on the McCarthy hearings of the nineteen fifty's. In 1959 John Wayne a famous conservative responded with Rio Bravo a film with a similar plot but Wayne has people to back him up.In the 60's their was a wave of Italian director who where fan's of westerns they made what where called spaghetti westerns. The most well known of all of these directors was Sergio Leone. He made five in his career and his most well know of the Dollars trilogy staring Clint Eastwood who would go on to become a famous actor and director due to staring in these movies. But now many years later the genera is vastly underused in my opinion but their are still the movies of the past left to enjoy.
