science fiction

Science fiction movies have been around for over one hundred years, one early one often recognised as an important piece of film history is A trip to the moon(1902) a french silent movie that is only fourteen minutes long in total. As movies moved on to sound and color so did science fiction along with the other tried and true genres that are still around today. In the 1950's two movie's should the highs and the lows of the genre first their was the day the earth stood still (1951) it not only had working effects for the time that it was made but it had a strong positive political message. On the other had you have the legendarily bad Plan 9 from outer space (1959) it was filmed in 1956 and it has a myriad number of flaws. First their is the opening the movie open with the narrator Criswell the well known and always wrong physic introducing the movie as grave robber's form outer space which was the movies original title but apparently the didn't feel they needed to re shoot the opening. Not only that their are numerous production mistakes, bad acting, and awful special effects. Science fiction is a very versatile genera it can do anything form make a political statement to just be a big adventure movie
